HISTORY

Barco began in 1929 by Morris Barker providing uniforms for
the residential and beauty professionals.

Kenneth Donner takes over the company in 1936
and finds Barco's uniqueness entering the medical uniform
industry.

  
In 1940, Barco goes from regional to national, taking the
unique position of bringing fashion to the uniform industry.
 
Barco was the first to introduce nylon to the Uniform Industry
during the war years 1941-1943 with style # 110. This industry
first, being made of 100% nylon gave a more feminine
appearance.
 
In 1950's, Barco introduces the newest and
latest fibers from the Dupont Corp. Fabric and yarn that was
used in fashion was brought to nurses uniforms.
 
In 1960's Barco was the first to introduce warp knits to
nurses' uniforms. This f abric
was comfortable and had great wash properties.

In the mid 1960's, Barco helped launch the world reknown
model, Cheryl Tiegs becoming one of her
first clients.
In 1964, Barco moves into a new world headquarters building in
Gardena, California.
  
In 1965, Barco introduced 100% textured woven fabrics to the
uniform industry. Barco was
the first to introduce Fashion Scrubs to the Uniform Industry.

The
trend-setting 60's...
1967:
Barco launches nurse uniforms for outer-space, and beyond.

In 1970, Barco entered the corporate uniform business with
Denny's Restaurant as their first client. Burger King
was also a client with the warp knit pantsuit.
  

Barco was the first to introduce Pant Suits to the Uniform
Industry; which was featured on the front page of the LA Times
newspaper in 1970.

Barco introduced fashion separates, a white's concept, under
the Work Force label in 1980. This was a multiple purpose line
that sold separately to create a wardrobe by combining
different pieces together.

Barco was the first to offer our
customers with a complete line of highly styled colored
uniforms and pant suits for the Restaurant Industry in 1980.
Kenneth Donner honored for 50 years
accomplishment in the professional apparel industry.
Award: Design excellence recognized by the National
Association of Uniform Manufacturers and Distributors at its
annual "Image of the Year" competition.

Barco introduced the idea of prints to the
uniform industry in early 1990 with Petite Floral.

Barco was the first to offer soft woven formulations in
the mid 1990's, with the Riverwashed™ Brand.

Barco was the first to introduce authentic stretch under the
FLEXX World in 2000.
Barco Introduced Disney ™ uniforms to the healthcare industry
in 2001.

Barco was the first to introduce Fashion Reversible Scrubs
under the Multiples concept in 2002. |
